Research Positions
Graduate Students:
Graduate students who join my group gain experience in a wide range of techniques ranging from inorganic synthesis and chemical biology to spectroscopy and computational chemistry. These techniques are applied to bioinorganic systems and inorganic materials in studies of structure and chemical mechanisms. My philosophy is for graduate students to exposed to a variety of experiences during their research in order to maximise their options following completion of their degree – and because it’s more interesting!
If you are interested in joining the Walsby group or would like any further information about my research, possible projects, chemistry at SFU or living in Vancouver in general, feel free to contact me directly: [email protected].
Undergraduate Students:
Research conducted by undergraduate students is an integral part of my research program. A variety of projects are available ranging from chemical biology to inorganic synthesis and spectroscopy. I try to make sure not only that the work is stimulating but also that students are exposed to as wide a variety of techniques as possible. A number of different undergraduate research opportunities are available:
- Undergraduate research assistant
- Undergraduate research project (CHEM 481 or CHEM 483)
- Work-study semester
- NSERC undergraduate student research award
